I am approved as a social work supervisor (LCSW-S) by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners and began practicing social work in 2010 after graduating from the University of South Carolina with an MSW degree. The supervisor role is one I thoroughly enjoy, and I genuinely value the relationship we will develop - whatever it may bring. Being a supervisor keeps me engaged in the profession and certainly on my toes, which I like. It is pretty amazing, in my opinion, to belong to a profession that gets to change and expand. I want to change and expand with it! Being a supervisor is one way I do that :)

My supervision philosophy is trauma informed and relational. I believe supervision should be a safe, accepting and nonjudgmental space where we approach new ideas and new ways of doing things with a sense of openness. I believe it's the best chance we have at reaching the growth potential for our time together.

My education (thank goodness) and experience tell me that our self is the most important tool we use, and our practice should evolve just as we do. So, common themes in supervision include the use of self, countertransference, boundaries, and self-care. I encourage supervisees to always have some part of themselves outside of their comfort zone, even if sometimes it is just their pinky toe. Supervision is an investment in yourself, and I work best with supervisees who are honest, prepared, and have the courage to be vulnerable.

I use individual and group methods and am known to give thought homework now and again. My career uniquely prepared me with some of the toughest experiences and situations we work with. I incorporate that as much as I can. Additionally, I have worked with many supervisees who are survivors of trauma and understand the unique layer that adds to our work.

Furthering the profession of social work and giving back is important to me, and offering affordable pathways to licensure is just one way I do that. Sign up below and I'll reach out! I can't wait to meet you.
